IUOE Local 181 Training Centers: Building Skills, Safety, and Brotherhood

IUOE Local 181’s training centers prepare members for real-world job sites with hands-on experience and expert instruction. At our Boston, KY facility, members train on challenging terrain, mastering heavy equipment and safety protocols. Along with technical skills, teamwork and union values are at the core of every lesson, ensuring a safer, stronger workforce.

Premier Training at IUOE’s Facilities: Skill, Safety & Brotherhood

IUOE has two international training facilities: one in Texas, and one in the mountains of Boston, KY. The latter of the two is located right in Local 181's very own District 3. Members travel from all over the US to obtain paid training expanding their skills on challenging terrain. The trainers at the Boston facility have come through the programs themselves and get fulfillment out of teaching fellow members about working all kinds of machines in all kinds of weather conditions.

Members will find jobs for every personality type, including high adrenaline opportunities! The safety standards set as part of the curriculum are designed to ensure each member goes home safely at night, as well as keeping projects safe for the communities in which they’re built. In addition to learning about new equipment and skills, teamwork is an equally important part of what members learn at the training center; “It’s not me, it’s we.” Respect and trust for the members of the brother- and sisterhood is innate in the training that happens here. Each contribution is a valuable part of connecting entire projects.
